The Grand Hotel, Brighton

David Salisbury Commercial has been working closely with the Grand Brighton Hotel on their major refurbishment project.

As one of the largest hotels in the South East and a major Brighton landmark, the Grand Hotel is the latest in a long line of prestigious projects for the David Salisbury Commercial team to be involved in.

With an initial brief to design, manufacture and supply replacement sash windows and doors for the Victorian period building (constructed in 1864), the contract was awarded via SEH Commercial, a regular partner of David Salisbury Commercial.

The scale and volume of this contract is not untypical for our Commercial brand, but the team is equally adept at working with an individual architect or builder on a single residential project, as it is a larger scale development such as a hotel or similar.

The project brief for the Grand Brighton Hotel was not without its own unique challenges.  A comprehensive brief was required, given the ageing nature of this period building.

The window and door designs were completely bespoke - something David Salisbury Commercial's highly automated, technologically advanced factory is perfectly set up to produce.  As a Grade II Listed Building, the new windows and doors had to not only remain true to what they were replacing, but blend seamlessly with the interior and exterior of the building.  This involved extensive negotiations with the conservation officer to gain final approval.

Working in partnership with the client and their architect, our previous Commercial experience in delivering large volume window contracts to period properties (with Listed Building and related regulations) was vital in securing this order.

Joe Marsh, David Salisbury Commercial Account Manager, commented: "we always treat every client and project with the same level of detail and professionalism that they would expect, but a significant project like the Grand Hotel is always nice to have within our portfolio.  We take great pride in every job but the positivity generated throughout the company by a contract win of this prestige is something we all feel proud to have been involved in."

The delivery of these replacement sash windows and doors is only phase one of what is a substantial refurbishment project.  David Salisbury Commercial is already quoting on and has been chosen as preferred supplier for the subsequent stages of this redevelopment.

Karen Bell, David Salisbury Sales & Marketing Director, remarked: "everyone at David Salisbury enjoys the different challenges and demands that working on these types of projects brings.  We are seeing an uplift in commercial opportunities and will be investing in our Commercial brand by strengthening our team and increasing our marketing activity accordingly.  We firmly believe that our combination of market leading product quality with enhanced service levels and competitive pricing leaves us well positioned to exploit these opportunities and grow market share."

As an architect, contract specifier or related construction professional, if you are looking for a supplier of box sash windows (such as these shown here on the right), timber doors, glazed extensions or lantern roofs, the David Commercial team is ready to provide expert technical advice and quote competitively on your next project.

And if you're looking for a landmark hotel on the South Coast, whether it be for a night's stay or your next business conference, we recommend the Grand Hotel in Brighton(!)
